PVESC has announced a move of its 24-hour emergency service to Falmouth. Keep that change beside your routine care contacts, especially when a stay or trip spans the transition.

The announced change takes effect at 8 a.m. on November 2, 2026

Portland Veterinary Emergency and Specialty Care says its 24/7 emergency department, ICU and specialty services will move to 422 US Route 1, Falmouth, effective November 2, 2026, at 8 a.m. Its long-standing main line, 207-878-3121, appears in the page source and in Maine EMS's clinic list; the website may display a different call-tracking number in a browser.

The announcement gives a different future role to 739 Warren Avenue, Portland: urgent care from noon to 10 p.m., Thursday–Saturday, alongside dentistry and oral surgery appointment services. It explicitly says Warren Avenue will cease being a 24-hour emergency facility from November 2.

For a need before the transition, call to confirm where to arrive. For a trip spanning November 2, update the emergency instructions held by your caregiver rather than leaving only a saved Warren Avenue destination. Check the announcement again before relying on either route. PVESC’s dated service and location announcement.

Price the care format, not just the word “boarding”

Roscoe’s Bed + Bark, 121 Hutchins Drive, lists full-day daycare at $47.50, half-day daycare at $37.50 and VIP daycare at $61.50. Its sleepover menu lists a private suite at $70 per night, VIP at $84 per night and open-room boarding at $70 per night.

A private suite and an open room share a starting figure on that menu, but the sleeping arrangement is different. Ask how each would work for your dog, what daytime activity is included and what admission assessment is required. The price labels alone do not establish suitability for a dog that needs separation or close monitoring.

Confirm the half-day duration, collection deadline, cancellation terms and full stay total at 207-536-7245. The published rates are a starting point for that conversation, not evidence of an available reservation. Local daycare and nightly sleepover prices.

Decide whether the job is a full groom, bath or brush-out

Roscoe’s spa menu distinguishes Full Groom, Exit Bath and Bath & Brush, with additional services such as face, sanitary and nail work listed separately. It says pricing depends on coat condition, texture and length.

For a haircut, describe the cut you want and ask what the full-groom appointment includes. For a dog returning from boarding, confirm whether the proposed exit bath covers only washing or the extra coat work you need. A request for “a tidy-up” can leave both the scope and the price unclear.

Request an appointment and estimate before arranging collection, and ask which health records the groomer needs. This menu does not provide a reliable flat price to apply to every dog. Spa categories and pricing factors.

A young puppy’s class and an adolescent course have different availability

The Animal Refuge League of Greater Portland lists training at 217 Landing Road, Westbrook, outdoors on its campus or through Zoom, depending on the class. Confirm the location for the particular session.

Puppy Pre-K is described for puppies aged 8–24 weeks, with a $175 registration fee. The page lists Tuesdays, November 10–December 15, at 5:45 p.m.; confirm that cohort and availability before paying. Puppy Power Hour targets ages 8–18 weeks on selected Saturdays, 8:45–9:45 a.m., at $25 per class or $80 for a four-week bundle. Selected Saturdays should not be assumed to mean four consecutive dates.

The page also marks Atomic Adolescent as booked until the New Year, with notifications for 2027 classes. A listed price is not an open place. Send age and vaccination records to [email protected] and ask which offering fits. Puppy Power Hour requires age-appropriate vaccinations, including at least one DHPP before class and rabies by 16 weeks. Ages, dates, fees and current booking notices.

A Portland Trails route is not automatically an off-leash route

Portland Trails, the local trail-network nonprofit, identifies the Eastern Promenade, Western Promenade and Deering Oaks among the places requiring leashes. Baxter Woods has time- and season-dependent requirements. Check the particular route and its current signs rather than applying one rule to the entire network.

The organization also asks visitors to avoid very muddy trails. Turning back and choosing another route is preferable to walking around a muddy section and widening the trail. This matters when planning an outing between fixed care appointments: keep a second route available instead of making one woodland loop essential to the day.
