For a smaller dog, check what the City actually separates
The City's dog-park information specifically identifies a small-dog paddock at Coldstream, 1850 Pisacano Drive. Jacobson, at 4001 Athens-Boonesboro Road, has two paddocks, but the description alone does not establish a permanent small-dog allocation. Check signs instead of assuming that every divided run uses the same arrangement.
A downtown stop has a different purpose. Phoenix Park, 100 East Main Street, is described as a 0.1-acre dog lot with self-draining turf. It should not be presented as equivalent to a larger run simply because both appear in a dog-park search. Choose the destination around the dog's comfort with other dogs and the space needed, rather than selecting the first map pin.
The City's rules require a leash on entry and exit, an owner supervising within view, and licensing and vaccination proof. Food is prohibited inside the dog park. Save food-based practice for an appropriate separate setting rather than carrying a training pouch into a busy enclosure.

The page still displays earlier construction notices for Masterson Station and Wellington, including an old February-to-April window. That is a reason to check with Parks at 859-288-2900, not evidence that a paddock remains closed today. If the intended area is unavailable, select another permitted route or postpone the run; do not squeeze into an unsuitable group because the trip has already started.
Fayette County has two different age thresholds
Lexington-Fayette Animal Care and Control says annual dog licensing begins at six months, while rabies vaccination is required at four months. The listed license fee is $8 for an altered dog or $40 for an unaltered dog. Mail applications add $2 handling and postage; use the current form and allow processing time before depending on the mailed tag.
The licensing office is at 1600 Old Frankfort Pike, Lexington, KY 40504. It lists in-person license service Monday–Saturday, noon–6 p.m., with current rabies proof. Confirm hours before making a special trip. If you have moved from Louisville, use Fayette County's process rather than renewing an old city's license and assuming the dog-park paperwork transfers. This guide concerns Lexington, Kentucky, not the identically named towns in Massachusetts or South Carolina.
Reserve the assessment before reserving the holiday
Wagging Tails Pet Sitting's admission process begins with a meet-and-greet before boarding, followed by an assessment daycare day if that meeting goes well. It says meet-and-greets are not scheduled in busy holiday weeks. A last-minute room request therefore may fail even when a rate is visible online: the admission steps still need to happen.
Its stated records include rabies, DAPP and Bordetella documentation before a boarding or daycare reservation. Discuss individual medical questions with your veterinarian and the business; this is a provider's admission policy, not a recommendation to give a particular treatment. Arrange the exact drop-off destination directly. A home-based service's public Lexington coverage statement does not identify a street address, and no guessed residential pin belongs in your travel plan.
The published menu lists $45 per night for one dog or $80 for two, with one-dog daycare at $25 per day. These are selected provider prices, not a citywide estimate, and the services are not interchangeable. Ask what supervision and rest look like for your dog before comparing the totals.
Two nights can cost more than two nightly charges
The same menu adds half the nightly rate on the final day when pickup is after 9:30 a.m. For one dog staying two nights at the listed $45 rate, the room charges are $90. If that late-collection rule applies, another $22.50 produces $112.50 before tax or other applicable charges. A posted $25 daycare day is a separate service; do not substitute it for the checkout rule without agreement.
Holiday and intact-dog supplements are also listed. Ask the business which dates and dogs they apply to; overlapping holiday names are not permission to calculate the same supplement twice. The deposit and cancellation window should be part of the written booking, especially when travel changes after the assessment.
This uses the provider-confirmed rate and billing rule you enter. It does not reserve care or decide whether a supplement applies. If any amount is unknown, leave it blank and request a complete quote.
Kenwick grooming and a Brighton class need different appointments
Tri Wizard Trims describes home-based grooming with drop-off and pickup in Kenwick. Do not interpret its at-home wording as a promise that a grooming van will visit your address. Its menu separates coat types: for a 26–40-pound dog, full grooming is $100–$115, while the curly-coat column is $110–$125. Coat condition and requested work can change the estimate; get the correct column and handover location confirmed.
For learning around other dogs, Speak Positive Pet Training lists group courses at Brighton Animal Clinic for $186–$236 plus tax, and topic-focused Saturday sessions for $20–$50. The Saturday venue may be at the clinic or in the community. Ask about the actual class, its duration and suitability at 859-334-0672 rather than assuming every entry buys the same amount of tuition. A park run cannot substitute for an appropriate training setting, and sudden behavior changes merit veterinary advice.
For a first week with a new caregiver, use the observation guide to describe what happens before a difficult handover. That gives a trainer or care provider something more specific than a request to make the dog obedient.
Keep two distinct emergency destinations in your phone
MedVet Lexington lists its emergency hospital at 150 Dennis Drive, Lexington, KY 40503, phone 859-276-2505, open 24/7 for emergency arrivals without an appointment. Save the street address together with the phone, not only the brand name.
Bluegrass Veterinary Specialists and Animal Emergency lists 1591 Winchester Road, Suite 106, Lexington, KY 40505, phone 859-268-7604, with round-the-clock emergency care. These are different destinations. Call for current arrival instructions when possible; neither listing establishes present capacity, a waiting time or which facility is closest to you.
Local sources and corrections
Source pages linked above were checked October 23–24, 2026. The park details were checked in the City's expanded information panels; an old closure heading was not treated as a current closure report. Provider menus describe their own services and do not establish quality, live availability or a regional average. For a booking, obtain the current terms directly. Read the care-provider checklist or send a correction.
