A midday lobby closure changes a seemingly flexible care day
Hounds Town Hartford is at 92 Weston Street, Suite 39. Its page lists weekday daycare at $38 and Saturday daycare at $31. Weekday business hours are 6:30 a.m.–7 p.m.; Saturday is 8 a.m.–5 p.m., and Sunday is 11 a.m.–1 p.m. The lobby closes noon–2 p.m. Monday through Saturday.
Do not plan a weekday lunchtime handover without confirming an arrangement. For boarding, the page lists a $31 daycare charge for pickup after noon. Ask for the total attached to your departure time, rather than assuming the public opening window is an included checkout window.
The local admission list requires dogs to be comfortable around other dogs, have current rabies, distemper and Bordetella vaccinations, and meet different alteration thresholds: spayed at six months or older, neutered at twelve months or older. New boarding clients are asked to call 475-454-6863; the existing-client online booking route does not replace that first conversation. Local rates, hours and admission conditions.
A starting haircut price needs a coat description
All 4 Paws Salon & Day Spa, 84 Custer Street, is in West Hartford. It lists full dog grooms from $67 for 0–20 pounds, $75 for 21–40 pounds, $83 for 41–70 pounds, $93 for 71–100 pounds and $106 above 100 pounds. A full groom includes cutting and styling; its bath-only packages do not include a haircut.
The page separately lists charges for detailed styling, dense coats and other additional work. It also shows two different dematting ranges in different sections. Describe the coat and desired result, then ask which fees apply and whether any combine. A starting price alone cannot resolve that quote.
The grooming requirements include rabies, distemper and Bordetella vaccination records plus a negative fecal sample within the previous six months. Send the required records before the appointment rather than discovering an admission issue at the salon. Call or text 860-558-7255. Grooming menu, additional fees and records.
Training with an adjustable fee is available outside Hartford city
Our Companions Animal Rescue bases its classes at the Valerie Friedman Program Center, 34 Sanrico Drive, Manchester, CT 06042. Use that destination for a confirmed class, not the organization’s Ashford sanctuary address.
Group classes follow a pay-what-you-can system. The published suggested amounts are $175 for six-week courses, $125 for four-week puppy classes and $95 for four-week specialty courses. These are suggested contributions under that system, not a claim that every registration costs exactly those amounts.
The organization welcomes shy, fearful and reactive dogs. Explain your dog’s triggers when asking which class and setup are suitable; a welcoming policy does not identify the right course by itself. New students are encouraged to begin with Family Companion 1. Puppy classes target ages 12–16 weeks and are scheduled according to enrollment interest, so ask about the actual next start rather than assuming a rolling weekly intake. Contact 860-242-9999. Use a leash plan for Hartford’s city parks
Hartford’s published Dog Owner’s Guide tells residents and visitors to keep dogs leashed, including in city parks, and to pick up waste every time. Use that guidance when arranging an ordinary park walk around a care appointment. A stretch of open grass is not, by itself, a designated place to release a dog.
The guide is an older city publication, not a newly issued 2026 rules notice. Follow current signs at the location and check with the city if you need a specific permitted activity. Hartford’s published Dog Owner’s Guide.
Ordinary appointment hours and emergency hours are different
VCA Veterinary Specialists of CT is at 993 North Main Street, West Hartford, CT 06117, with phone 860-236-3273. Its current specialty and emergency page lists emergency care 24 hours a day, seven days a week.
The hospital’s general landing page also shows ordinary primary-care appointment hours, including a Sunday closure. Those are not the emergency hours stated on the separate page. Save the emergency contact with the full West Hartford address and call for arrival guidance when seeking urgent help. A 24-hour emergency service does not mean every specialty consultation is available without an appointment. Current emergency hours and location.
