West Fort Worth · the appointment and the journey
Choose the care arrangement before buying a package
A west Fort Worth household can have several useful services along Camp Bowie, but a bath booking, daycare evaluation and overnight stay are different appointments. Start with the one you actually need. A dog who needs an owner-present training session does not automatically need group daycare; a dog needing injections cannot be placed wherever a room is available.
This guide connects specific west-side addresses, published service menus and collection rules. It does not rate facilities we have not visited or cover every Tarrant County provider. For the first evaluation, keep a reachable person available to collect your dog if the setting proves unsuitable. Ask staff for observations about resting, handling and group interactions before buying repeated days.
Use the service choices to narrow the call, the arrival map to choose the correct door, and the quote comparison after acceptance and timing are settled.
Four bookings that solve different problems
These are examples with first-party menus, not a quality ranking. Confirm availability, the total and your dog's suitability directly. The quoted units matter: one bath, one daycare day, one overnight room and one hour of owner training are not interchangeable.
A workday trial
Metro Animals 1: arrange the first day separately
Metro 1's daycare menu lists a free full-day evaluation Monday–Thursday, morning arrival and three new orientations daily per location. Regular daycare is $33/day or $25 for up to five hours. The address is 5729 Camp Bowie Boulevard; call 817-210-6457.
The program lists temperament testing, vaccination and spay/neuter requirements. Give staff your dog's age and records before making the appointment. “No reservations” for regular daycare does not remove the first-day orientation arrangement. A $540 twenty-day pass only helps if acceptance, usable days and current expiry/refund terms work for your household.
A bath or a haircut
Metro Pet Wash: choose who does the washing
Pet Wash, 7100 Camp Bowie W. Boulevard, 817-759-9996, offers self-serve washing from $14 by weight, staff baths from $30 and haircuts by estimate. Self-serve means you wash your dog; do not book it expecting staff to perform a full groom. The published last bath is thirty minutes before closing: weekday closing is 7 p.m., Saturday and Sunday 6:30 p.m.
At Metro 1, a staff bath for a 31–50-pound dog starts at $40 and the listed nail trim is $17. Full grooming is by consultation. Ask whether the selected branch performs the whole appointment there or uses its Pet Taxi, and whether transport costs extra. A bath starting price is not a haircut quote.
An overnight stay
Ruff Resort: agree on the room and the handover
Ruff Resort's boarding menu places boarding at 9520 Camp Bowie W. Boulevard, the billboard-side building with a ramp and single front door. Call 817-744-8138. Mini rooms are $45/night for dogs totaling up to 30 pounds; basic rooms are $55/night up to a combined 95 pounds. Included play can be group or individual, depending on temperament.
Weekday handovers are 7–9 a.m., noon–2 p.m. and 4–5:30 p.m.; weekend handovers are 9–10 a.m. and 4–5:30 p.m. The operator cannot administer injections or board dogs with open wounds or stitches. Discuss medical needs before paying. Its overnight instructions request food in original packaging or pre-portioned, and do not allow personal beds and blankets.
Skills practiced at home
Kat & The Hound: the owner participates
Kat & The Hound publishes in-home, positive-reinforcement training in Fort Worth: an initial thirty-minute consultation is free, a one-hour session is $75, and five sessions are $325. Outside Fort Worth, within its stated sixty-mile limit, the corresponding session is $100 and bundle $425. Contact 682-253-5587.
State the task—handling for grooming, pulling at the apartment entrance, or another specific difficulty—and ask who attends and what you practice between visits. The provider also advertises in-home grooming but a comparable grooming price was not established here. Do not treat the training fee as the cost of both services or as a guaranteed behavior result.
Build the trial around the actual collection window
Ruff's daycare instructions differ from boarding: use 9522 Camp Bowie W. Boulevard, the building nearer Grissom's with the RUFF sign and double doors. Evaluations are not scheduled Friday–Sunday. Weekday daycare arrival is 7–9 a.m.; full-day collection is 4–6:30 p.m. Half-day bookings can have a different collection time by agreement. The evaluation is $31; a short day of five hours or less is $21.
Its published office hours extend later than those handover windows. Put the agreed service-specific time in your calendar, rather than using the general closing time. Appointment and intake papers plus vaccine records are required. The operator lists Rabies, Bordetella and Distemper, completed puppy rounds, and no open wounds, stitches or dogs in heat for daycare. These are entry terms; your veterinarian determines the appropriate medical schedule.
| Before the first visit | The answer to write down |
|---|---|
| Group assessment | Who calls if the trial is stopped, and how quickly must someone collect? |
| Different service on the same day | Which door, branch and acceptance rules apply to each booking? |
| A delayed return | What is permitted if you miss the collection slot, and what does it cost? |
The city's licensing page requires registered microchips and says microchipped dogs do not need a pet license. ZBonz still uses license-tag wording. Keep rabies identification and chip registration available and clarify that mismatch with Animal Care & Control. A Fort Worth mailing address does not establish that your home lies inside city limits.
Find the door—and keep Wednesday out of the park plan
ZBonz is at 6950 W. Camp Bowie Boulevard. Wednesday is its maintenance closure; saturated ground can cause additional closures. Its small-dog area is for dogs under forty pounds and dogs younger than four months cannot enter. Check current notices rather than assuming the park is available after an appointment.
The nearby Pet Wash, Metro 1 and Ruff's two buildings are separate destinations. Send an authorized collector the street number and entry instructions. Do not ask them to find “the dog place on Camp Bowie.” A first group-care evaluation also does not need a second unfamiliar group-play outing at the park on the way home.
ZBonz Dog Park
Compare one agreed service, not unrelated starting prices
For a five-hour trial that both providers can accept, Metro 1's published $25 short day and Ruff's $21 short day are useful starting points. For a new dog at Ruff, the evaluation is a full day at $31, so that first visit is not the $21 product. An extra fee or tax that has not been answered remains unknown.
For a haircut request, describe weight, coat condition, the desired cut, and any handling difficulty. Get the services included, transport arrangement and latest collection time. For boarding, obtain the room type, exact dates and additional-dog charge. Enter actual written totals below only after both quotations cover the same booking. The calculator adds money; it does not decide which care is suitable.
For example, write “five hours at your Camp Bowie branch on Thursday; new-dog evaluation already completed; please include required extras and tax.” Keep cancellation and pass-expiry terms beside the price. Our provider comparison checklist has further questions for a visit.
The fallback journey is part of the booking
TEXRail's pet policy allows small pets in carriers. It does not establish that an uncovered large dog can travel on a leash. If your collection depends on transit, confirm the actual vehicle policy and the last leg to the correct door before paying. A friend authorized to collect needs the records and confirmation too.
Check the Fort Worth/Dallas forecast when arranging an outing, then check ZBonz's separate maintenance and ground-condition notices. Good weather does not cancel Wednesday closure. When a pickup changes, call the facility before driving; do not leave the dog in a parked car while negotiating a missed slot.
Save the emergency hospital, not its enquiry form
Fort Worth Animal Emergency Hospital publishes 24-hour, every-day care at 4631 Citylake Boulevard West, Fort Worth, TX 76132. Call 817-263-2900 for urgent instructions while arranging transport. Give a caregiver this phone, the regular vet's contact and the person who can authorize care. An online appointment request for a bath or daycare does not contact an emergency clinician.
Questions behind a west-side care booking
Why are there two Ruff Resort street numbers?
The operator directs daycare to 9522 and overnight boarding to 9520. Send the service-specific entrance to the person doing the handover.
Can I collect my boarded dog at 6:30 p.m.?
The published overnight windows end at 5:30 p.m. The later daycare window is a different service; obtain a specific arrangement before making a late return plan.
Does a bath include a breed haircut?
No such inclusion is established by the starting bath prices. Metro publishes full grooming by consultation. Ask for a written service list and coat-specific estimate.
Can I use ZBonz after a Wednesday groom?
Wednesday is the park's scheduled closure. A grooming business being open nearby does not make the enclosure available.
Should I buy twenty daycare days before the trial?
Wait for the assessment and current pass conditions. A low arithmetic rate is not useful if the setting is unsuitable or you cannot use the days.
Can the same overnight provider administer insulin?
Ruff states it cannot administer injectable medication. Discuss the prescription with your veterinarian and a provider that explicitly accepts the necessary care; do not infer acceptance from ordinary boarding availability.
