BURLINGTON · THE CITY FIELD GUIDE
Burlington.
The dog beach.
A separate care plan.
Use Burlington's dog beach, not the swimming beaches, plan around suspended weekend daycare, book weekday grooming and save the Williston emergency address.
The public swimming beaches are not interchangeable with a dog beach. If part of the day needs care elsewhere, check the weekend service and boarding clock before setting your itinerary.

Oakledge, Leddy and North Beach are not dog beaches
Burlington’s current parks rules prohibit dogs on the public swimming beaches at Oakledge/Blanchard, Leddy and North Beach. The page identifies Texaco Beach as the beach allowing dogs. It does not state an autumn exception that turns the other swimming beaches into dog-access areas.
The same guidance allows dogs in parks and public spaces on leash, with off-leash activity reserved for designated dog-park areas. Separate the lake view you want from the exact place where a dog can accompany you. Follow signs at the chosen access point rather than treating an entire waterfront park as one permission zone.
For designated dog parks, the city lists dawn-to-dusk hours, a maximum of three dogs per owner, and a requirement to carry a leash and keep the dog under voice control. Food and dog treats should stay at home under the posted general rules. City beach restrictions and dog-park rules.
Weekend boarding continues where weekend daycare is suspended
Happy Tails Pet Resort and Spa is in South Burlington, at 1045 Hinesburg Road. Its site lists weekday daycare from 6 a.m.–6 p.m., with Saturday and Sunday daycare temporarily suspended. Boarding remains available seven days a week. Do not plan a Saturday day visit from the boarding availability notice alone. Current service schedules.
The boarding page lists standard suites at $75 and deluxe suites at $88 for a noon-to-noon period. Check-in before noon or checkout after noon carries a $26 half-day charge, and prepaid daycare packages cannot be used against that charge.
Weekend boarding handovers are limited to 8–10 a.m. or 3–5 p.m.; weekday handovers are 8 a.m.–5 p.m. A Sunday afternoon pickup is therefore within a handover window but after the included noon checkout. Ask 802-489-5496 for a total based on both ends of the stay, especially if arriving on a weekend morning as well. Boarding periods, charges and handover windows.
Grooming has its own weekday hours and records requirement
Happy Tails lists its grooming salon hours as Monday–Friday, 8 a.m.–3 p.m. The full groom includes bathing, drying, brushing, cutting or scissoring to the requested specifications, and nail and ear work. A weekend boarding reservation should not be assumed to include a weekend haircut appointment.
The salon requires vaccination records and fecal-test results. Ask which records are acceptable and how recent they need to be before arranging the appointment. Its menu prices work according to time, breed, haircut, coat length and condition, with possible additional charges for matting.
For a dog with a dense or tangled coat, send an accurate description and request an estimate for the necessary work. The published menu does not support one flat haircut price to apply to every dog. Salon hours, service scope and required records.
Week one at Fetch the Leash is online and humans-only
Fetch the Leash, 85 Pearl Street, Burlington, offers Puppy Preschool for dogs aged 8–16 weeks at the start. The $285 course lasts six weeks, with the first week a humans-only online orientation.
Its Family Dog course starts at four months of age, costs $245 and lasts five weeks, again beginning with a humans-only online orientation. The class is designed for social dogs; the provider directs owners needing help with aggression, reactivity or extreme vocal behavior toward private or day training instead.
Confirm the current cohort and how the online meeting connects to the later in-person sessions. Bring the dog only when instructed, and explain behavior concerns before choosing a group course. The facility is open by appointment only. A Pearl Street address is not permission to walk in with a dog for an unbooked class. Course ages, fees, orientation and suitability.
The hospital named Burlington is physically in Williston
Burlington Emergency & Veterinary Specialists lists its location as 1417 Marshall Avenue, Williston, VT 05495, with phone 802-863-2387. It provides 24-hour emergency care.
Save the full Williston address with the phone number rather than searching only by the Burlington name. Call for arrival guidance when seeking emergency help, and tell a caregiver which contact and location you have recorded. The hospital’s emergency availability does not establish a current waiting time or a walk-in appointment with every specialist. Hospital location, telephone and emergency service.
