BALTIMORE · THE CITY FIELD GUIDE

Baltimore.
Harbor walk,
park or care?

Choose between a leashed Inner Harbor walk, Canton Dog Park and paid daycare in Baltimore, price only the visits you need and save the current ER address.

Those choices solve different problems. A public dog park needs you to stay; a daycare booking needs the provider to accept your dog and cover the hours you are away.

The promenade is a leashed walk; Canton provides the enclosure

Visit Baltimore describes the Inner Harbor promenade from Locust Point toward Fell's Point as a leashed route. Pick a manageable section and a place to turn back, rather than setting out to complete the entire waterfront. The route's dog access does not settle the policies of boats, restaurants or attractions you pass. Check those separately before adding them to the outing.

For off-leash time, Canton Dog Park is at 3221 Toone Street, across from the waterfront park. The Canton Community Association describes free entry without a park registration fee, double gates and separate sections for large dogs and smaller or older dogs. Its water source is outside the enclosure. Carry bags and water rather than depending on donated supplies, and read the posted rules and access times on arrival. See the community association's park information and Visit Baltimore's walking guide.

Free park entry does not remove the city's licensing obligation. The Baltimore City Health Department says dogs and cats over four months must be licensed, with rabies documentation used in the application. Follow the city process for a city residence; Baltimore County is a separate jurisdiction. A park page's recommendation to license is not the full statement of the municipal requirement.

If you need to leave the dog while visiting an attraction, arrange care first. A fenced public space is not a drop-off service, and another park user has not agreed to watch your dog.

A visitor may need three days of care, not twenty prepaid visits

Parkwood's single-visit menu lists full daycare at $46 and a half day of up to 4.5 hours at $35. The advertised $40 full-day rate comes from an $800, twenty-day pass. Passes expire one year after purchase and work at approved facilities; no membership is required.

For a hypothetical three-visit stay, three full-price days total $138 before any other charges. Buying twenty visits would require $800 upfront. The lower per-visit rate matters only if you can use the remaining visits within the terms and your dog actually suits the care. That comparison is arithmetic from one provider's menu, not a market-wide price ranking. Read the rates and pass conditions.

The Locust Point branch is at 1624 Beason Street, Baltimore, MD 21230, telephone 410-539-7626. It lists daily hours of 6:15 a.m.–8 p.m., with first visits arranged in advance and a temperament assessment before daycare or social boarding playgroups. Ask about the appropriate first-visit length and how the day balances activity with rest. See the branch's own service details.

Its overnight room is listed at $85 per dog, per night, even when dogs from one family share the room. A small-dog cabin is $65 for dogs under 20 pounds. Collection is by 10 a.m. unless later care is added. Confirm multi-dog terms and the complete stay price; sharing a room does not turn the published per-dog charge into a household total. Pikesville's separately listed $75 standard cabin is not the Locust Point room rate.

Book the grooming branch as carefully as the service level

Parkwood offers grooming at Locust Point and Pikesville. Its West Baltimore resort has daycare and boarding but no grooming salon. A booking with the brand therefore needs an actual salon address, not just a preferred neighborhood.

The grooming menu distinguishes a $20–$50 wash and towel dry, a $40–$80 Mini Spa, a $50–$100 Mini Spa with face, feet and sanitary trimming, and a $70–$150 full haircut or deshedding service with spa care. Ask which work your coat needs: deshedding and a full-body haircut are not the same instruction, even when they share a service level.

Confirm the estimate, coat plan and collection time, and bring the required current rabies record. Resort opening hours do not establish that a groomer is available throughout the day. Tell the salon about matting, handling sensitivities or mobility needs before agreeing the appointment.

A supervised learning visit is different from a public park introduction

Oh My Dog's Puppy Play & Learn is advertised for puppies up to six months, with rolling admission, a six-session series at $165 or drop-ins at $30. Its group-class page lists Sunday mornings at 9 a.m. and gives package holders priority when space is limited. Confirm the venue, age eligibility, vaccination records and an actual place before arriving.

Six $30 drop-ins would total $180, $15 above the listed six-session package. A family unsure it can attend repeatedly should still ask about the right entry arrangement rather than buying solely from that difference. Describe the puppy's comfort around other dogs and ask your veterinarian about exposure appropriate to its health.

The same page labels Reactive to Resilient as “coming soon.” Do not mistake that description for an available group booking for a dog that barks or lunges at others. Ask about current individual support at 443-212-8296 or [email protected].

Falls Road Animal Hospital currently directs owners to Clarkview Road

Save Falls Road Animal Hospital, 1423 Clarkview Road, Suite 200, Baltimore, MD 21209, telephone 410-825-9100. Its current emergency page lists service 24/7, 365 days a year, and asks owners to call before arrival to confirm it can help. Use that destination rather than assuming the hospital's name supplies its street address.

Save directions to the current hospital. Give a temporary carer the dog's records and your emergency decision contact. Published hours are not a guarantee of immediate capacity, a particular wait or a specialist's availability.
