ALLENTOWN · THE CITY FIELD GUIDE

Allentown.
The park is paused.
Plan around it.

Allentown's Judge Memorial Dog Park has paused new members. Plan around it, then check boarding reassessment, the six-hour daycare rule and Macungie classes.

The registration page still explains fees and paperwork, but its current notice stops new applications. Settle that limitation before building a dog's day around the park.

A displayed application process does not mean registration is open

The city’s page for Judge Memorial Dog Park, 791 Dixon Street, says the program is unavailable and that no new applicants are being accepted at this time. Check that notice before gathering records or planning a first visit.

The underlying eligibility is also narrower than “any visitor”: membership is for Lehigh County residents. The page describes free registration for Allentown city residents and a $25 annual fee for county residents outside the city boundary. Those terms do not override the current application pause or establish access for an out-of-county visitor.

Ask 610-437-7757 or [email protected] about reopening and access arrangements. Existing users should follow the posted rules, including two dogs per handler, no dogs under six months and no children under twelve. Current city membership notice and conditions.

A familiar boarding facility may need to reassess a returning dog

Leader of the Pack Canine Institute’s Allentown location is at 6346 Farm Bureau Road. Its boarding page asks owners to call if a dog has been away from daycare or boarding for six months or longer. It describes a four-hour evaluation at $25 and a possible slower reintroduction at $14. Arrange the required return process before the boarding arrival, rather than assuming an old assessment remains sufficient.

The standard boarding rate is $72 per 24-hour period, including daycare. Private accommodation starts at $79 per 24-hour period and also requires an assessment. A pickup beyond the booked 24-hour period adds a $31 day fee under the published policy.

Give the team your actual drop-off and collection times when requesting the total. Ask separately about any late handover: a chargeable extension of the stay is not permission to arrive after closing. Call the Allentown number, 610-366-8282, rather than the separate Easton contact. Boarding periods, return evaluations and additional charges.

At Maple Hills, six hours is the full-day threshold

Maple Hills Veterinary Hospital, 862 Kressler Road, lists weekday dog daycare from 8 a.m.–6 p.m. The full-day price is $44 for six hours or more; a half day, under six hours, is $31. The $20.50 figure on the same page is specifically for a full daycare day while boarding, rather than an ordinary standalone daycare visit.

Dogs over six months must be spayed or neutered. The published vaccination list includes rabies, distemper, Bordetella and canine influenza, with vaccinations up to date at least two weeks before attendance. Check records in advance at 610-395-3743, particularly when a trip is approaching.

The veterinary office’s longer hours on some evenings do not extend the stated daycare collection window. Confirm the care appointment you are actually booking. Daycare hours, duration bands and admission records.

A rabies tag does not replace the salon’s paper record

Leader of the Pack offers grooming at its Allentown location, including baths and cuts. Its grooming rules require a paper rabies-vaccination record from a veterinary professional before the appointment; a collar tag is not accepted as that proof. Grooming enrollment forms and signed waivers are also required.

The salon says matting may require shaving and can increase the charge. Describe the coat before choosing a service, and ask for the proposed cut and estimate at 610-366-8282. The checked page does not provide a dependable flat haircut price.

Use the requirements for the grooming appointment itself when preparing paperwork. Do not assume that possessing a dog-park membership, collar tag or prior boarding reservation automatically completes salon admission. Grooming services and documentation requirements.

Allentown Dog Training Club meets in Macungie

Allentown Dog Training Club holds classes at Macungie Park, 50 North Poplar Street, Macungie, PA 18062. Its name should not send you to an assumed classroom within Allentown city.

The overview describes six-week sessions, generally on Wednesdays and Thursdays, with Puppy Kindergarten for ages eight weeks to five-and-a-half months and Beginner for dogs five-and-a-half months and older. Members receive priority registration; non-members are directed to the contact form.

The class page now announces registration for November classes, with a revised schedule to download, while older July 8, 2026 summer announcements remain elsewhere on the site. Use the November schedule rather than the summer dates or prices. Ask 610-439-2800 or [email protected] for the current schedule, suitable level, fee and arrival instructions before enrolling. Explain any concern about a group setting while requesting placement. Class descriptions and registration route; Club notices and contact details.

Keep the Whitehall emergency address with your care instructions

Valley Central Veterinary Referral and Emergency Center is at 210 Fullerton Avenue, Whitehall, PA 18052, with phone 610-435-1553. Its emergency department is open 24 hours a day, seven days a week, including holidays.

The hospital requires appointments for its other services, so its specialist schedules should not be confused with emergency access. Save the address and number together, and call for arrival guidance when seeking emergency care. Emergency hours, address and appointment distinction.
